Speaking Of .. Yes I’ve relocated!

So, I’ve been living in Los Angeles, CA since June 2017 ; and I love it I mean I’ve always had a thing for California and this year was the year I officially got drafted here.  Amazingly enough I’ve literally already performed 3 times and many more to count so the ball is rolling ladies and gents which makes me even more excited about my move!

Just recently had a performance at Carnival Encino – cool experience with my new found west coast band mates — we even got a chance to meet Ms. Golden Brooks.

Moving here has been an adventure, its defiantly different from the southeast region — but what can I say thats why I moved to receive the change that I wanted mentally because seriously in Georgia (all my life) I feel like I was going nowhere fast … like really fast but nowhere (lol) I mean I love my homeland, city, and state but to say the least… I was ready to go .. plus GA will always be home …

I have an full agenda of excited things that are blossoming here that I care to share as they unravel — so bare with me as I don’t like to speak before it happens as I speak them into existence (You’re like huh? lol .. its cool all that matters is I understand lol xoxo)

Anywho in a nutshell Cali has been great to me see that sun kissed skin! 🙂 !

Hello February! BHM. Wonderful Women Wednesday!

We can not — and obviously will not forget about “Black History Month” ; Our historic culture still stings the society today from fashion, music, politics, films…and even our perspectives. We have this “magic” thing about us as “blacks” that everyone is naturally attracted to. I personally feel as if I am of no color, I am simply human but that doesn’t erase my ancestry, and because of my background I am who I am today. I am living in my freedom because of the struggles and hard work of the past. Some like to dis-own or downgrade the “lighter” black woman such as myself because they were led to believe that we are not “black enough” yet we still encountered racism of some sort even from our own kind — On top of being a woman which was a sexist issue we’ve dealt with for many years and still deal with today so… we also face/ have faced struggles of our own and for that reason let me acknowledge some of my favorite “Black” Women  in the Arts.

Dorothy Jean Dandridge was an American film and theatre actress, singer and dancer. She is best known for being the first African-American actress to be nominated for an Academy Award.

“It [prejudice] is such a waste. It makes you logy and half-alive. It gives you nothing. It takes away.”

Betye Saar is best known for her art work that critiques American racism toward blacks.

“I am intrigued with combining the remnant of memories, fragments of relics and ordinary objects with components of technology. It’s a way of delving into the past and reaching into the future simultaneously.”

Eartha Mae Kitt was an American singer, actress, dancer, activist, voice actress and comedian, known for her highly distinctive singing style.

“It’s all about falling in love with yourself and sharing that love with someone who appreciates you, rather than looking for love to compensate for a self love deficit.”

I admire these women for their strengths to be able to push forward with their talents and make such an amazing impact on our culture. There is something so powerful about being an established black woman in the entertainment and art business. Today we’re calling it “Wonderful Women Wednesday

Happy February!

Practice Self-Care with these 50 tips

Self-care is defiantly “MAJOR KEY” as DJ Khalid would say — think about it this way…if you don’t take good care of yourself who will? You really don’t want to depend on others to make sure you’re taken care of. In reality no one can truly take care of you the way you deserve — you know (or you should know) yourself better than anybody else. Knowing yourself takes time and tender care — learning what works and doesn’t work for you. So, I’ve become a pinterest junkie lately and I found these awesome tips on “SELF-CARE” — 50 tips to be exact!

Try these! Seriously TRY! (Thanks to http://www.thirteenthoughts.com/ )

22. Do something that you’ve been putting off for a while.

Music Monday — “Short Text & Sex”

Loves,

Decided to do a Mixtape — “No Filters” (I had this idea for a while but finally decided to act on it..)

I won’t be using any effects on my vocals, using any audio producers or engineers for mixing and mastering … Just me finding instrumentals to tell all the untold stories inside my head…. hence the name “no filters” .. this will be real, raw and unfiltered 🙂 …

Anywho here is a joint from my impulsive decision — “Short Text & Sex”
